  7. Fangweng Restaurant – Yichang, China

Fangweng Restaurant is located in China, in Hubei Province, about 12km north of the city of Yichang, near Sanyou Cave, or “The Cave of the Three Travelers”. The restaurant is in the Happy Valley of the Xiling Gorge, an especially scenic stretch of cliffs, caves and park land located around the area where the Chang Jiang River flows into the Yangtze. The entrance to the Fangweng Restaurant is an uninspiring grey brick building, but at the far end of a narrow concrete bridge, the restaurant caves into the cliff, the floor hanging several hundred feet above the ground. From this end, customers can view the flowing water of Yangtze River. For the daredevils, a bungee jumping platform is nearby.


  8. Salt Restaurant in Iran

When we think of salt, we think of it as a way to season our food. But for the Iranian Emtiaz Designing Group, salt was the main material for a new kind of eco-friendly building, the Salt Restaurant of Shiraz in southern Iran, where the walls, tables and even the stairs were covered with a salty coating. Inspired by salt caves, the architects of the eatery in southern Iran claim their building material cleanses the two-storey bistro of cooking smells and creates positive ions in the atmosphere. All fittings such as windows and entrance door were specifically designed and casted for this project. The project’s foundation is 150 square meters and it’s in two floors. This restaurant is the first in the world that is built by natural salt and it is one of a kind.

 10. The Chillout Lounge, Dubai

There is no better way to cool down than spend a meal or share some cocktails with friends in a restaurant made of ice. The Chillout Lounge from the Sharaf Group is the first ice lounge in the Middle East. Originally opened in 2007, the lounge had a major refurbishment in July 2014 creating a place which is spell binding with its ice sculptures, ice seating and tables and a uniquely illuminated interior, all at a subzero temperature. Almost everything in the restaurant is sculpted out of ice. Diners will sit on ice benches or chairs, eat at ice tables, out of ice plates, drink from ice glasses served from a bar. Visitors are advised to first spend a few minutes in the Buffer Zone to get acclimatised. The temperature in the buffer zone is set at 5 degrees Celsius which gives the body time to adjust to the sharp drop in temperature in the dining area. The restaurant, which will serve cold cuts, cheese, juices, ice creams and mocktails, can accommodate 40 guests, including relatively intimate table-for-two arrangements for couples.
