Yahoo Mail is Not Accessible For Certain Users
Some users in the US reported that their Yahoo Mail could not be opened. When they try to open it, Yahoo Mail was displaying a message which asking them to disable their ad-blocker before they could access their inbox.
Yahoo said it was testing a “new product experience” in the US. As they told to Washington Post :
“At Yahoo, we are continually developing and testing new product experiences. This is a test we’re running for a small number of Yahoo Mail users in the U.S”.
As reported by Digiday, decision to make Yahoo Mail could not be opened for those who use ad-blocker comes as Yahoo’s advertising revenue is decreased. It’s the third-quarter of Yahoo earnings under Marissa Mayer’s leadership, which marked by another disappointing picture for the company.

Ad-blocking is an enemy for those company who rely on advertisement as their main income. Therefore, technology companies have responded ad-blocking in different ways.
For example Apple Inc. which updated its mobile operating system iOS to allow third-party ad-blockers to be installed, however they do not remove Apple’s own ads which it serves up in apps. Meanwhile, the giant tech company which collecting many income from advertisement has another solution for ad-blocking. Google has introduced a paid subscription version of YouTube, that lets viewers remove ads on the video streaming site for a monthly fee.
In another hand, for sure ad-blocking is good thing for internet user. By using ad-blocking, it can improve smartphone battery and reduce mobile data usage. It can also prevent people being tracked by advertisers online and protect devices from malware that could be served up if an advertising network is compromised.
