The First Dolce & Gabbana Hijab and Abaya Collection for Muslim Shoppers


The luxury fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana has unveiled hijab and abaya collection, targeting Muslim shoppers in the Middle East. The new line of Dolce & Gabbana hijab or fully named The Abaya Collection: The Allure of the Middle East debuted exclusively on Style.com/Arabia earlier this month. This is the first time for Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana released a collection of hijabs and abayas which is targeting specific regions. Designer Stefano Gabbana proudly broke the news on his Instagram about the Dolce & Gabbana hijab collections :

The full collection of Dolce & Gabbana hijab and abaya can be seen on Style.com/Arabia. The Dolce & Gabbana hijabs and abayas, which made of sheer georgette and satin weave charmeuse fabrics, comes in neutral hues—luxe black and sandy beige.  Some feature the daisy, lemon, polka dot and rose prints from their Spring-Summer 2016 collection, while others are embellished with lace. According to a press release cited from CNN, it’s intended as “an enchanting visual story about the grace and beauty of the marvelous women of Arabia.”

The collection went on sale this month, and is available at all of the brand’s boutiques in the Middle East, as well as some stores in Paris, London, Milan and Munich. The Dolce & Gabbana hijab is a smart move for the the Italian fashion brand to grow larger and larger. According to a recent Thomson Reuters report, Muslim shoppers spent $266 billion on clothing and footwear in 2013, and expected to reach $488 billion by 2019.
