Periscope, The Live Video Streaming App, What’s All the Hype About?
Periscope is a live video streaming app that has taken social media by storm. Still in its infancy having only officially launched in March 2015, it recently celebrated one year since its official launch. Why has is taken social media by storm? Well in its first 10 days after its official launch it had an amazing 1 million sign-ups. Some of the statistics that surround Periscope are truly huge as the app has a phenomenal 350,000 hours of video streamed on it every day. Periscope is most popular with those aged between 16 and 34 years, and almost 2 out of 3 Periscope URLs are posted by male users.

Twitter owns Periscope and industry insiders predict that it will play a big part in the future of its parent company. Its closest competitor is the app Meerkat and the new Youtube Connect. Well known famous users include American talk show hosts Jimmy Fallon and Ellen Degeneres and it is gaining traction.
